HDS | Variations on a theme
Based on a twelve-year relationship, the CEO of Hachette Distribution Services (HDS) called upon FIORINO DESIGN to assist with their retail initiatives.
Projects included Explorus, a new retail concept offering a distinct mix of gifts within a unique branded environment as well as a pitch for retail concessions at the new Terminal 1 at Pearson International Airport.
Drawing inspiration from the richness of Toronto's neighbourhoods and the city's heritage, FIORINO DESIGN's concepts for the airport were chosen over two larger U.S. firms, successfully securing the contract for HDS. Each concept would offer essentially the same products, but with distinct shopping experiences. Focusing on humanizing the airport experience and helping reduce the anxiety connected with travelling, 5 different concepts reflecting the many facets of Toronto were ultimately brought to life and applied to 20 locations.
